James Clifton Vestal, M.D. was born in Memphis, Tennessee. He grew up in Costa Rica, Chile and mainly in Texas. He completed high school in Rockwall, Texas and his undergraduate degree and medical degree at Texas A & M University. His residency was at Scott & White Clinic and Hospital and Texas A & M University Health Sciences Center. He underwent a fellowship in Urologic Oncology at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver.
Prior to joining UANT, Dr. Vestal was in private practice in Pennsylvania as well as a member of the Scott & White Clinic staff in College Station, Texas as an Assistant Professor of Surgery. He is a member of the American Medical Association, American College of Surgeons, American Urologic Association, and American Association of Clinical Urologists. His professional interests include renal, bladder, prostate and testicular cancers. Dr. Vestal has experience with all types of cancer therapies including cryotherapy of kidney and prostate cancers as well as brachytherapy of the prostate.
Dr. Vestal and his wife, Kelly Cavanaugh, live in the Mid-Cities area with their two children.
